Edo police rescues kidnapped Chinese expatriates

Edo State police command says it has rescued two Chinese nationals allegedly abducted in the state by suspected kidnappers.

BusinessDay gathered that the Chinese expatriates were rescued at a forest close to Igbanke community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.

Chris Okey Ezike, new police commissioner in the state, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen in Benin City.

The duo that were said to have been kidnapped last Monday were said to be employees of a construction firm based in Kano State.

They were said to be on their way to Nnewi in Anambra State for an official assignment when they were kidnapped at about 8pm at a bad spot along Uromi-Igbanke road.

The abductors, who were said to be four in numbers, were reported to have shot into their victims’ car, held their driver before abducting them.

The expatriates were however rescued unhurt by detachment of anti-riot police officers who combed the forest where they were allegedly kept by their abductors.
