Election of Mahmud as NBA president is plus to crusade against corruption, says Badaru
Governor Muhammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state has described the election of Abubakar Balarabe Mahmud SAN as Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) National President as plus to the crusade against corruption.
He said the new NBA president is an upright and discipline individual who can bring his wealth of experience to bear in boosting the crusade against corruption in the country.
Governor Badaru stated this when he received the President-elect of the NBA, A.B Mahmud, who paid him thank you visit in his office.
Governor Badaru lamented at the level of corruption in the country, explained that, unless that is address, no meaningful development can be achieved.
The governor noted the role NBA in safeguarding the rule of law urged the president- elect effectively rid the Association from bad egg who bend in destroying the hard earned reputation of the association.
“Corruption is like a cancer in this country effecting our development, and I believe your election came at a better time then now. Our country is faced with great challenge of corruption and bad leadership that refused to plan a robust economy that will stand the volatility of oil price”
“You election is very timely and will help in strengthen this administration fight against corruption as well as easy access to justice ” Governor Badaru stated.
Governor Badaru therefore assured the new president of his support to effectively discharge this responsibility
Earlier in his address, President elect of the NBA, A.B Muhmud, SAN said that, his election was a collective Victory due to the contribution of Governor Badaru.
He said his tenure will ensure a corrupt free NBA and making sure that corrupt lawyers are dismissed from the association.
Muhmud explained that he intend to established a framework that will be ranking states based on welfare and conducive working environment they provide to their lawyers and judges.
He therefore commended Jigawa state Government for providing conducive working environment to the judiciary sector.
The president-elect assured the governor that he will work diligently and always work for collective interest of the nation.
