FCT assures Abuja residents of adequate water supply
Muhammad Bello, Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the weekend assured Abuja residents of his resolve to work assiduously towards ensuring adequate supply of potable water.
Bello gave the assurance during the facility tour of some strategic water infrastructure at the Lower Usuma Dam, Bwari Area Council of Abuja.
The facility inspected include: Lower Usuma Dam reserviour, raw water pipeline conveying system from Lower Usuma Dam to the water treatment plants I & II as well as III & IV and laboratory serving the dam.
The Minister charged the staff of the FCT Water Board to do everything possible toward improving on services to the residents of the territory.
Bello who was accompanied by Babatope Ajakaiye, FCT Permanent Secretary, warned officials of FCT Water Board against complacency in the discharge of their statutory duties.
He further assured that the FCT Administration under his leadership will support the management of the Board to improve water supply in Abuja and its environs and urged the Board to also think of ways of providing safe and clean water to the rural areas.
Bello who emphasised the need for diligence in order to satisfy the yearnings of the people, said: “your responsibility in terms of providing water to our beautiful city is very important.
And I have seen that most of you have been here for a very long time so you have the requisite experience to deliver on your mandate.”
The Minister who was accompanied on the tour by the also visited the Kubwa Area Office including the Tank serving the Kubwa Satellite Town.
Malam Bello and his entourage also visited Tank 2 serving some districts in Phases II & III of the Federal Capital City as well as the erosion control site in the Katampe District (Extension).
The Minister was conducted round the sites by the management team of the Board led by its Director, Mr. Hudu Bello.
