Fight for foreign investors: Wike shows off projects to German journalists

Rivers State government has said it was bent on attracting foreign investments to the state. Now, the governor, Nyesom Wike, has shown off projects executed by his one-year-old administration to German journalists.

The governor, who has since lined up several national and international events to take place in the state capital so as to position the Garden City as an investment destination, brought senior media professionals from the German ARD Television, said to be the leading public broadcasters in Germany to tour his projects last weekend.

According to Simeon Nwakaudu, media aide to the governor, the Germans limited themselves to Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor local government areas.

The foreign journalists were led by Sabine Bohland, chief of bureau of the organisation to Africa, Nwakaudu, who led the German journalists on the project tour stated.

It was not made clear why the choice of the German media, but the governor’s aide said the team visited the NPA-Industry Road, UTC Junction, Borikiri roads, Nkpogu-NLNG Bridge, Woji-Akpajo link Road/Bridge, Diobu roads and the Law Faculty of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology.

Speaking after the project tour, Nwakaudu said the visit by the international media practitioners brought to the fore the outstanding achievements of Governor Wike, despite dwindling resources to the state.

He noted that Governor Wike continued to judiciously use state resources to improve  the  economy of  the  State through massive  construction  works that have created employment  opportunities  for  the  people of the state.

The media aide noted that despite the negative  propaganda  being sponsored  by the opposition,  Governor  Wike  had continued  to  transform the  state in a safe and secure  environment.
