Fire guts Newswatch premises in Ikeja
A section of the property housing Newswatch Magazine in Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos, was on Monday gutted by fire with properties estimated at millions of naira destroyed.
Rasaq Fadipe, director, Lagos State Fire and Services, confirmed one male staff of the media house injured in the fire, but however said that his men were mobilised to the scene to fight the fire. He said the fire affected the canteen.
But a source told our correspondent that although the media house owned the property, they had actually been operating from Broad Street since it was bought over by businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim.
We gathered that most of the staff in the old premises were security personnel and cleaners. The cause of the fire was yet to be determined by the time this report was filed.
