FRSC clampdown on reckless commercial motorcyclists plying Benin-Ore Expressway

The Ondo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Wednesday renewed its warning to commercial motorcyclists plying the Benin-Ore Expressway to guide against reckless riding.

Mr Kehinde Dahunsi, the FRSC Commander in Ore, Ondo State, said in Ore that commercial motorcyclists’ reckless riding on the expressway was alarming.

Dahunsi said that the Okitipupa-Ore axis and the Benin-Ore Expressway had become death traps but that commercial motorcyclists still used to flout the traffic rules at will and had caused several mayhems.

The commander said that, henceforth, any erring commercial motorcyclists found to be violating the traffic rules would be prosecuted in the mobile courts sited along the expressway.

“The way commercial motorcyclists ride recklessly and carelessly along the Okitipupa-Ore axis and the Benin-Ore Expressway is becoming worrisome and we can no longer tolerate these acts.

“The mobile courts are in full force now and any defaulter will be prosecuted immediately. So, commercial motorcyclists are warned in their own interests,’’ Dahunsi said.

He added that the commission had engaged members of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACCOMORAN) on ensuring that their members ride safely on the expressway and obey traffic rules.

Dahunsi urged passengers to always caution motorcyclists against riding recklessly after they must have picked them.

He said that cautions from passengers would safe both the passengers and the motorcyclists from untimely death.
