Governor Ganduje wants more community partnership in security delivery
Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Kano State governor, has advocated for involvement members of the community in security delivery.
He maintained that security agencies cannot work well without the cooperation and timely release of information from the public. He further urged that every community member has a role to play in marinating law and order.
The governor made this disclosure while receiving executive members of the Kano state, Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, pointing out that community policing is key to addressing the prevailing security challenge, confronting the state and the country at large.
Governor Ganduje said his administration has been working with the Police, the Army and vigilantes to address security problems such as cattle rustling and drug trafficking, pointing out that success is being recorded because of the support of community members.
He promised to collaborate with the state PCRC to stimulate more community interest in security matters, so as to make the state safe for businesses and other social endeavours to thrive.
In his address earlier, Bala Borodo, who is the state Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, revealed that the committee is a platform for collaborative effort between communities and the Police to combat crime.
Governor Ganduje has also promised to support the International Hausa Language Literature Writers Forum towards preserving and promoting Hausa culture.
He said noted that like Yoruba and Ibo, Hausa language is facing serious threats as a result of incursion by alien cultures pointing out that concerted efforts must be made to preserve the language.
In his remarks, the leader of the delegation, Ado Ahmad Gidan Dabino told the governor that the group, which comprises 15 associations, intends to hold an international conference in Kano soon. He requested the assistance of the state government towards successful hosting of the conference.
Meanwhile, the state government has also directed Hajj Centre Officers to remain alive to their duties to ensure that this year’ Hajj and subsequent operations are conducted with highness of honesty and transparency.
