House of Versatile pioneers solo exhibition in Aba
House of Versatile, a fashion outfit has concluded arrangement to exhibit its 2016 collection, an event that would chronicle a new era in the fashion industry in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State.
The event scheduled this weekend at Enitona Hotel, is first of its kind in the commercial city, touted to be the fashion capital of Nigeria.
According to Clement Pius, chief Executive Officer, House of Versatile, “the event will showcase our 2016 designs that include, senator designs for women, evening/day wears and wedding gowns.
He observed that Aba fashion designers have not been exhibiting, because they have been limiting themselves.
Meanwhile, tailors and fashion designers in Aba on the auspices of Association of Tailors and Fashion Designers (ATFAD) Abia State, has announced plans to host a fashion summit in September, 2016, in line with the Federal Government policy to promote locally made goods.
Aba, has the largest concentration of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country with a sizable number engaged in tailoring and finished leather products-shoe, belt and bags.
Aba industrialists have capacity to produce for local and international consumption, if basic infrastructure, especially constant electricity, good roads, water are provided, observes Onyebuchi Nwaigwe, chairman, Board of Trustees, ATFAD.
He affirmed that the Aba tailoring and fashion industry has the capacity to produce for local and for export, if the right facilities and equipment are made available to them.
He explained that if the sector operators are properly empowered that they would produce quality products, help create employment and contribute to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
