Ikpeazu out to create gas city in Ukwa area
Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia State governor, says he is committed to creating an industrial gas city in Ukwa, the rich oil city of Abia State, as a way of driving the state’s economy.
He stated this at the Government House, Umuahia, when he received the steering committee of Ukwa Peoples Assembly who paid him a courtesy visit.
According to him, the liberation of the South East people in terms of their economic lies with Ukwa, as it is in a position to drive a seaport and an industrial gas city.
He promised to take a second look at the Ogwe Golden Chicken Limited to give it a new lease of life as well as to site a tertiary institution in Ukwa through the attraction of the private sector.
The governor assured that he would investigate the beneficiaries of federal contracts in the state to ensure that they live up to expectation and promised to do roads in Ukwa, as the dry season sets in.
He promised to carry every local government in the state along in his scheme of things and thanked Ukwa people for their unity of purpose.
Earlier in his speech, the leader of the delegation and former Senate president, Adolf Wabara, congratulated the Governor for doing well in office so far and thanked him for the appointments given to Ukwa people in his government.
He expressed the hope that Ikpeazu would emerge victorious in the tribunal and requested him to look into deplorable roads in Ukwa as well as to press it on the NDDC and the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to ensure that the road projects they awarded but had been abandoned by the contractors in Ukwa were completed.
He pleaded with the governor to reactivate the Ogwe Golden Chicken and the Abia Palm Plantation.
