Ilamoshe residents protest poor state of electricity
Residents of Ilamoshe community in Oke-Afa, Isolo lagos on Saturday took to street on the poor state of electricity in their area.
BusinessDay report has it that the community has been out of power without for over 6months without any cogent reason from their community power district as to the cause of the poor electricity state.
A source familiar with the matter told BusinessDay that the problem has resulted in an increase in crime rate in the area as so many business have closed down, and these have posed threats to lives and property of residents in the area.
“The problem of light has been an issue in our area said Oluwadare Bitire leader of the group as they bring exorbitant bill for us to pay without we seeing the light that we pay for.
“We have tried communicating severally to the appropriate authorities on the issue, but they are not doing anything about it.
“The only response we have received from them was that maintenance was ongoing and it would take 5weeks but its over 5 months and nothing has been done on the issue,” Bitire said.
Further efforts by our correspondent to speak with the head of the community power district to know their view as regards the issue however proved abortive as they were not on ground as at the time of the protest.
