Judiciary workers in Enugu suspend impending strike
Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Enugu State chapter, has suspended its impending strike over non-implementation implementation of the Consolidated Judiciary Salary Scheme (CONJISS) in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the union had threatened to embark on indefinite strike over failure by the state government to meet its demands. The union however decided to suspend the action at the end of its meeting held on Wednesday.
A senior member of the union, who pleaded anonymity, said the strike was meant to compel the government to implement the package which was contained in the 2016 budget.
He said the union decided to suspend the strike to give room for dialogue with the government, saying, “We have suspended the strike to embrace dialogue, but we will continue with the strike if the government reneges on the peace move,” he said.
