Lalong reiterates government’s commitment to diversify economy

Governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong has reiterated the Federal Government’s renewed vigour to diversifying the nation’s economy through agriculture.

Lalong on his visit to Kanam, Wase, Langtang North and Kanke local   government areas to commission some projects initiated by previous administrations, said Wase Local Government, rich in solid minerals, stood a better chance of benefiting from solid mineral “when the Federal Government’s policy on transformation of agriculture and solid mineral fully takes off.”

The governor, who enjoined the people to live peacefully and to “cooperate with the government to ensure that this laudable plan is actualised,” commended the local administrations for living up to the manifesto of the All Progressives Congress and the President Buhari’s desire to ensure that ongoing projects initiated by the previous administration are completed before new ones are embarked upon.

Meanwhile, the management committee chairman of Kanam, Isa Hashimu, appealed to the people of the area to guide the projects jealously so that they will be able to utilises the maximum benefits accrued to the various projects.

In a similar vein, the management committee chairman of Kanke Local Government Area, Panshak Yohanna, said the local administration had embarked on a rural electrification of over three communities, which cost over N12 million. He said the aim was to boost the revenue base of the area.
