Malammadori LG immunises 45,000 children against 6-killer diseases – Official

The Malammadori Local Government Council of Jigawa on Friday, said it immunised about 45, 000 children against the six-killer diseases during the January round immunisation in the area.

The six-killer diseases, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO) are: Polio, Whooping cough, Tetanus, Dipththeria, Measles and Tuberculous.

Ibrahim Yusuf, the Manager, National Programme on Immunisation (NPI) in charge of the area, while reviewing the report of immunisation in Malammadori, said the figure exceeded 42, 222, targeted.

He further said that 355 health personnel were deployed to the districts in the local government for the exercise.

Yusuf also said that the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHDA) supplied 54 doses of Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) to facilitate the smooth conduct of the immunisation.

He attributed the success of the immunisation to the support by the council, community and religious leaders, adding they mobilised parents to present their children for the exercise.

He urged parents to complement government’s effort by presenting their children for immunisation in the upcoming exercises to eradicate the killer-diseases in the area.
