N169m fraud: EFCC re-arraigns executive secretary, accountant
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arraigned Peter Amromanoh, executive secretary, Delta State Scholarship Board, and Andrew Boji Nkwor, its chief accountant, for defrauding the board to the tune of N169 million.
The duo were brought before Justice FN Azinge of the Delta State High Court, Asaba, on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing during their stay in office.
The EFCC in a statement said the accused persons between 2008 and 2010 alleged to have paid bursary to “ghost” students. The accused persons pleaded not guilty.
Steve Odiase, the prosecution counsel, asked the court for a date of hearing, but A P Ogefere, counsel to the two accused persons, pleaded with the court to allow the duo remain on the bail granted by the former trial judge, Justice Emifoniye.
Justice Azinge adjourned the case to December 8 and 9, 2015, for further hearing, while the accused will continue to enjoy the terms of bail earlier granted by the court.
It would be recalled that the duo were first arraigned in May 2014, before Justice Emifoniye who has been transferred to another court.
