NGO announces post secondary scholarship awards in A/Ibom

Care Bridge foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) has announced plans to award post secondary scholarship to indigenes of  Akwa Ibom State

In a statement made available to Businessday in  Uyo, the state capital, it said the scholarship  will be awarded t to five students  adding that it will be tenable in the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State University, Akwa Ibom State polytechnic and the state college of education at Afaha Nsit.
The statement explained that five students  will receive N100,000 each pointing out that students from the selected institutions should demonstrate a “need for assistance based on social or economic hardship.”
According to Ini Ray Inyang, director of Care Bridge foundation, applications for the scholarships can be accessed online at www.carebridgefoundation.org beginning from March 1 and ending on March 31, 2017 adding that successful candidates will be announced on facebook and instagram.
Based in both the US and Nigeria, Care Bridge fouhdation is involved in improving health and education outcomes for the people of Akwa Ibom noting that  ‘’gaps in these critical sectors are simply too wide.
 According to her, the people of goodwill must come together to help bridge them,’’ adding that the scheme is a “modest contribution to  that much needed task’’ by the organisation.
In November last year, the organisation led the Akwa Ibom State Association (AKISAN), Florida chapter and the Ibom community health alliance on a medical mission to provide free comprehensive health screening to the people of Awa Afaha Clan in Onna local government area of Akwa Ibom  State.
Inyang who is a US based pharmacist and philanthropist says she is guided by the desire to touch the lives of the less privileged people in the society.
