Osinbajo, Ambode urge women to be resilient

Wives of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo, and the first lady of Lagos State, Bolanle Ambode, have called on women to be strong and resilient amid socio-economic challenges facing the world today.

Both spoke at the 2015 ‘Arise Women’ conference, held at the City of David Church, Victoria Island, Lagos, where they observed that the global challenges of which Nigeria was not immune required steadfastness and strong character to overcome.

The Lagos first lady in her message at the conference, specifically noted that poverty remained a challenge to everyone, arising from unemployment, under-employment and lack of sufficient exposure to recognise and grab emerging opportunities for more prosperous and meaningful living.

According to her, the theme of the conference, “the set time is instructive,” is simply telling us that God’s appointed time for us will never fail.

“Women occupy a sensitive and strategic place in the life of any nation, beginning from the home front. The family mirrors the society and that explains why nations all over the world, largely reflect the quality that make up the country.

“As women and managers of the home-front, all eyes are on us, to take good care of our husbands, and bring up our children in the fear of God. We must teach them the virtues of honesty, morality, and hard-work and good character. This is for them to grow up to become productive and God fearing citizen, for the good of our society,” said Bolanle.

Ambode commended the convener, Siju Iluyomade for organising the annual conference and prayed that God would continue to renew her strength, to carry on the good work, for God and humanity.

Osinbajo, who was the special guest of honour, urged the citizens to continue to pray for the nation, commending the convener for keeping the spirit going and the organising committee for keeping faith with the ideals of the conference.

Siju Iluyomade, the convener, noted that the set time had come for the country to move forward, stressing that this must be activated by faith.
