Police arraign man, 40, for breach of trust, theft
The police have arraigned a 40-year-old man, Adeoti Adebukola, before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for breach of trust and theft.
Mireti Wilson, the prosecutor, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 25, 2012 at about noon in Osogbo.
“The accused collected the sum of N500,000 from one Oluwole Ajobo with promise to pay back within a stipulated time.
“The accused however failed to comply with the agreement reached with the complainant; rather, he ran away until he was finally apprehended by the police. The accused committed a two-count charge of breach of trust and theft,’’ Wilson said.
The prosecutor said the offences committed contravened sections 383 and 419, punishable under Section 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34, Vol. 11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
Owelo Francis, counsel to the accused, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
Halimatu Olowolagba, the presiding magistrate, granted the accused bail in the sum of N1m and two sureties in like sum. Olowolagba said the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and submit to the court evidence of tax payment, two passport photographs and an affidavit of means.
She said one of the sureties must be a worker in the judicial sector and the other, a close relative whose addressed must be verified by the police, and adjourned hearing in the case until July 31. (NAN)
