Rivers to enjoy greater peace – Kumuyi

William Folorunso Kumuyi, general superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church (DLBC), has assured the people of Rivers State that peace would come upon the state.
In fact, Kumuyi said the peace would come in greater proportion to the state, which for many months before, during and after the last governorship election in the state, has seen faced horrendous inter- and intra-youths violence, orchestrated by killings and properties destruction.
For nearly a year now, the rerun elections to get the state’s representation at the Senate, House of Representatives and the state’s assembly, has been put off several times, with huge violence attending each effort to organize the elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The last attempt in July (this year), a couple of buildings, the INEC office in Gokana LGA were burnt down. Also, some alleged political killings have been reported in several parts of the state, the latest being the mowing down of Ken Atsuete, a lawyer and human rights activist, at the Choba area of Port Harcourt.
The DLBC leader and founder, in his sermon Sunday at the 40,000 seat capacity Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, said: “Rivers State will enjoy greater peace because God is diligently working on the state.” And that the state will “remain connected with God.”
The pronouncement struck the right chord with the state Governor, Nyesom Wike, who had searched for peace for the state in nearly two years of his administration. He re-echoed Kumuyi’s word, by saying that evil forces would “never triumph over Rivers State.”
It is the second time in two months that Kumuyi would be mounting massive crusades in the state, with special prayers for the governor and his cabinet.
Since September, the Deeper Life Church leader has been holding crusades in the state. Next month (December), he would hold two big evangelical meetings at the same Stadium, with several thousands in attendance.
Governor Wike said, “evil forces will never triumph over the state because the state is connected to God.”
The governor, while speaking Sunday during the Deeper Life Christian Ministry’s November crusade in Port Harcourt, said, the prayers made for the State by the General Superintendent of Deeper Life, Kumuyi “has been beneficial to the state.”
“Since the beginning of the monthly crusades in September, the state has been enjoying greater peace I commend our father, Pastor William Kumuyi for allowing Rivers State to connect and reconnect to God, who is the Chief Security Officer of the world, and the Chief Security officer of Nigeria and Rivers State. This connection to God has been very beneficial to Rivers State.  We appreciate God for this gift of peace and we pray that it will continue to flourish,” said Wike.
Perhaps, it is on the strength of the “connection to God” that the governor is pulling through with a state amnesty programme, aimed at mopping up tons of assorted weapons from different youths militia. As of date, hundreds of young people have turned-in weapons to embrace the state government amnesty.
He said people of the State will continue to work with Kumuyi for the development of the state; praying God to continue to grant the Deeper Life Christian Ministry General Superintendent the sound health to serve humanity.
Several thousands of Christian faithful and officials of the State Government attended the November crusade of the ministry.
