Security agencies on alert for Christmas festivities — Commander
Brig.-Gen. Moshood Jimoh, Commander of 31 Artillery Brigade, Minna, said on Friday that effective security operational order had been issued to security agencies to ensure peaceful coexistence before, during and after Christmas festivities in Niger.
Jimoh, who is also Chairman of Inter state Security Agencies Committee, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna that the stepwas taken to ensure peaceful environment for all residents .
” We are working along with the Nigeria Police, State Security Service, Immigration Service, NSCDC, Prison Service, FRSC and the Nigeria Custom Service. ”
He explained that adequate security personnel had been deployed to identified areas of crime to pave the way for arrests and prosecutions.
” We are battle ready to deal with any unforeseen circumstances before, during and after the festivities,” he said.
He solicited the support of residents to offer intelligence reports about suspected criminals.
He explained that security matters should not be left in the hands of security agencies, hence the need for all to cooperate in promoting security situation in the state.
He said that time had come for residents to be security conscious by addressing the current reality.
He also appealed to stakeholders to complement the efforts of security agencies by sensitising residents to remain alert during the celebrations.
