Son axes father to death in Enugu

A young man identified as Ikenna Onu from Ugwu Oba community in Oji River local government area of Enugu State has allegedly axed his father to death for daring to advise him.

It was gathered that it was a dark day last week for the family of Onu of Aguabosi village in Ugwuoba in Oji River when Onu cut open his father’s head, Christopher Onu who slumped and died instantly.

According to an eye witness, the deceased upon returning from his farm the fateful day had called on his son for advice. The father was said to be advising the son to desist from smoking weeds suspected to be Indian hemp so as not to endanger his life. While the advice was going on, the suspect got up in annoyance and allegedly reached for an axe with which he cut open the father’s head.

Confirming the incident, the Enugu State police public relations officer, Ebere Amaraizu said that investigations have commenced into the incident while the body of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary at general hospital for autopsy. The suspect is currently in the police custody.
