South East leaders move meeting over pro-Biafra protests to Enugu

Leaders of South East geopolitical zone, made up of the governors of the South-East states, leadership of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo and other stakeholders have moved to Enugu, the meeting initially slated for this weekend in Owerri, to discuss the continued pro-Biafra protests across the South-East and other neighbouring states.

The meeting, which is at the instance of Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, would now hold on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.

According to Sam Onwuemeodo, chief press secretary to Governor Okorocha, the Enugu venue is in keeping with the ancient city as the traditional headquarters of the South-East states.

He said the postponement of the meeting was informed by the need for all those expected at the meeting to be in attendance.

The South-East governors, Ohaneze leadership and others who will be at the meeting will deliberate on the pro-Biafra protests that had gained momentum in recent time, and for the governors and other leaders to do what they are expected to do in the circumstance.
