SUBEB distributes 51,600 plastic chairs, tables to schools in C/River

The Cross River State  Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has commenced the distribution of 51,600 plastic tables and chairs to primary schools across the state.
Stephen Odey, the chairman of the board, said this on Monday in an interaction with journalists in Calabar.
Odey said that the board had completed the distribution of the items to schools in the Southern Senatorial district of the state.

“The distribution of chairs has been concluded in the Southern Senatorial zone and it is currently ongoing in the Central Senatorial zone.

“Each senatorial district will be getting 17,200 sets of plastic tables and chairs,’’ he said.
He said that the board was trying to create a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning in all the basic educational schools in the state.
“No child in primary school will sit on the floor again to learn in Cross River State.

“Governor Ben Ayade is passionate about the Cross River children and so, we will continue to partner the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to do more for our educational sector,” he said.
Also, some representatives of the benefitting schools had commended the SUBEB for the gesture.
Otu Sarrah of PCN Primary School 4 Corners, Ikom, in the Central Senatorial zone, said that the tables and chairs distributed to the school would go a long way in motivating both the teachers and the pupils.
“It is good and I thank SUBEB and the state government for this,’’ she said.
Also, Okenjona Richard, the Head Teacher of St. Julius Primary School, Nkum-Osokom in Boki Local Government Area, said the provision of the materials was a relief to his school.
