Tedi-Lagos residents decry poor state of road

Residents of Tedi Community of Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State have decried the bad state of roads in the area.
The bad state of the roads has led to lose of financial resources to residents, especially vehicle owners who find it hard to navigate the roads due to the constant rainfall.
Lamenting the daily travail on Tedi – Muwo roads, Boniface Okoye, a resident, said, “the main road to and from the area, which is a major road leading to Abule Osun axis in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, had been left in a deplorable state.”
Okoye said if the road was fixed, it would decongest the traffic at the Badagry Mile 2 axis and that of Mile 2 Festac road, and therefore pleaded with the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to revisit Tedi – Muwo road as part of the projects to be done next by the state, in a bid to alleviate the sufferings of the residents.
He stressed that the government should come out with a palliative measure to reduce the stress people go through daily on the road, especially grading the link road to Abule Osun, Abuleado, Oluti and Maza Maza area of Mile 2.
Also speaking with BusinessDay, Mukala Badasiru, also a resident, decried what he called “living in hell,” saying “when it rains, people find it difficult to move in and out of their residence, due to lack of good road.”
Mukala said even the road that linked to Onireke, opposite the Ojo Military Cantonment area in Ojo Local Government of the state, was not worth passing during raining season.
The residents of the community had been able to wade through by the help of community efforts and little contributions gathered by them, but begged the government to come to their aid.
The former Governor Babatunde Fashola-led administration visited the community in several occasions and awarded the contract to construct the Tedi Muwo Abule Osun road linking through Mile 10 area of Ira-Ariyo area with a bridge now called the Egyptian Bridge, which has since been abandoned for many years, he said.
He further said the bridge was awarded the same year Cele-Oshodi Expressway was awarded, but up till now that of Tedi – Muwo bridge had been abandoned by the state government.
Tedi Community is a fast developing area of Lagos State, linking many parts of the state together such as Ojo Alaba, Mile 10, Ira, Ariyo, Abule Osun, Abule Ado and Mile 2.
