BusinessDay’s Charles Ike-Okoh bags ‘Business Editor award’ at maritime merit awards
As maritime stakeholders get set for the 16th edition of Maritime Industry Merit Awards (MIMA), Charles Ike-Okoh, deputy editor, Businessday Newspaper, has been nominated for the Business Editor of the Year 2012 award.
The award, which is slated to take place this weekend in Lagos, will be held alongside the annual Shipping World Lecture organised by Maritime Media Limited.
The highlight of the event will be the investiture of Idris Umar, minister of transport, as the Maritime Man of the Year 2012 along with winners of other categories of the Nigerian Maritime Industry’s Most Coveted Award.
The winners of the other categories of the MIMA include Bamanga Tukur, national chairman, Peoples Democratic Party ((PDP), for the Lifetime Achievement Award; Lami Tumaka, deputy director, Public Relations, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), for the Most Outstanding Maritime Industry Image Maker; and Famous Enearu, chief executive officer, Classic Marine Services, for the Most Promising Maritime Personality 2013.
Bamidele Badejo, former Lagos State commissioner of transport, will deliver the programme lecture titled “An effective intermodal system of transport as a panacea to African economic integration”.
The ceremony, which will have in attendance renowned captains of industry, will be presided over by Senate President David Mark; Dzifa Aku Ativor, Ghana’s minister of transport, will be the special guest of honour; while Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State will be the chief guest of honour.
MIMA 2013 will take place on April 13, 2013 at Harbour Point, 4 Wilmot Point, Off Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos.
