C&I Leasing, Floatel Reliance partners to market accommodation and construction support vessels
C&I Leasing, a leading Nigerian player in the offshore marine vessel space, has announced a strategic partnership with Floatel International, owners and operators of world’s modern, safe and technically advanced fleet of semi-submersible accommodation and construction support vessels.
Speaking at the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Lagos recently, Emeka Ndu, group managing director, C&I leasing plc, disclosed that the new partnership offers C&I Leasing an exclusive rights to market Floatel services and vessels in Nigeria for a renewable period of one year.
“We are excited at the prospects of this partnership, which represents another significant milestone in the efforts of our organisation to compete even more aggressively in the offshore marine sector, and create value for investors,” he said.
Peter Jacobsson, chief executive officer of Floatel International, said that the company which was established in 2006 is focused on satisfying the market’s demand for a new generation of offshore floatels that are cost efficient in operations, and meet the increased market and regulatory demands.
“Our vessels were carefully designed to provide the most modern accommodation facilities, outfitted with ample recreation and common areas of comfort for guests. She is built in accordance with ABS class, has a total accommodation capacity for 500 persons, and is designed for cost effective operations on deep water and moderate harsh environment,” he disclosed. Jacobsson further states that the MoU was signed in respect of Floatel Reliance –a DP2 semi-submersible accommodation and construction support vessel designed for cost effective operations worldwide, excluding the North Sea.
“The vessel also has 40 office work stations for client’s use; workshop and warehouse facilities for construction support; heavy lift crane of 120 tonnes with a reach to transfer goods and materials to the adjacent installation; auxiliary crane of 25 tonnes, and a main deck work-area of approx 1 300 m². The vessel also comes with a fully redundant DP 2 positioning system for operations in unlimited water depth,” he explained.
Recall that C&I Leasing recently expanded its operations to include leasing of oilfield support vessels to the oil and gas industry, and have within the last four years demonstrated remarkable achievements by owning and managing a fleet of 18 vessels. The company has awarded contracts for another six vessels expected to commence operations in 2016.
