C&I Leasing takes delivery of four ballistics security patrol boats, 1 RHIB craft
C&I Leasing, a leading Nigerian content player in the business of providing offshore support vessels to international oil companies (IOCs), has successfully taken delivery of four new units of 1605 Ballistics Security Patrol vessels and one RHIB craft.
The vessels, which were built by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, are in fulfilment of a recent contract awarded to the company by the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited to provide NLNG with vessels of such capacity.
“The vessels will be used to provide security patrol and escort services for LNG tankers calling in and out of NLNG Bonny terminal,” said Wisdom Nwagwu, the general manager, C&I Marine, while receiving the vessels in Lagos recently.
According to him, the NLNG contract which was signed late 2014, was for a five years period with an option of one year extension, and a cumulative option to a maximum of three years.
On the partnership with Damen Shipyard, Nwagwu stated that the vessels would add up to number seven vessel built by Damen for the company. “We strongly believe that our partnership with Damen will continually place us in a position to play a key role in the Nigerian marine sector.”
In terms of features, the 16-metre crafts are built with aluminium hulls and a GRP composite superstructure. The accommodation areas were clad with bulletproof materials to protect the personnel inside. The four vessels also feature up-rated water jets and engines for maximum performance.
Recall that C&I Leasing had in November 2015, sponsored twelve candidates to the Damen shipyard in Romania for six weeks to study different aspects of shipbuilding.
