MNM Shipping Line postpones Lagos call over huge patronage from W/African ports

Following unforeseen huge patronage from some West African ports, which ‘MV Orient Spirit,’ one of the vessels of MNM African Shipping Line, was scheduled to call before coming to Lagos on its maiden visit, the shipping line has postponed its visit to Nigerian seaport.

Sifax Group, a Nigerian-owned multinational corporation, officially appointed the agent of the new shipping line both in Nigeria and Ghana, announced the postponement of the first call of the vessel in Lagos last week.

“The MV Orient maiden call at Lagos port did not happen on Friday, May 8, 2015, as previously scheduled. The vessel has been overbooked at the various West African countries, she called. We are surprised by this level of trust and patronage already shown by clients on the very first voyage of the vessel,” said Markus Brinkmann, Sifax Group managing director.

Continuing: “With our second vessel coming on stream shortly, this situation would be properly addressed and the enthusiastic Lagos market would be appropriately serviced.”

Brinkmann further reassured clients and other stakeholders of the resolve of both the shipping line and Sifax Group to provide an excellent service of international standards as they fulfil the objectives of promoting international trade and linking ports in Nigeria and other West African countries with new ones across Europe.

MNM is the first privately-owned African shipping line and is expected to call ports like Barcelona, Sagunto, Tangier, Casablanca, Agadir, Nouakchott, Dakar, Conakry, Lagos, Tema and Abidjan.
