NIMAREX 2015 organiser shifts date to April over election

Following the postponement of the nation’s election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the date for the 2015 edition of the annual Nigeria Maritime Expo (NIMAREX) has been rescheduled for April 27 to 29.

Ayorinde Adedoyin, chairman of the planning committee, who announced the new date in Lagos, said the shift in date from March to April became necessary following the shift in date for the nation’s general elections, which was moved from February to March.

“We, the planning committee have deliberated and arrived at the new date of April 27 to April 29, for this year’s expo. This was necessitated by the shift in the date for the general elections,” according to Adedoyin.

Ayorinde, who further noted that the shift in date would allow the planning committee to perfect all logistics arrangements so as to give prospective participants all the support they would need for the period, also assured that plans for the exhibition remained at top gear.

The NIMAREX boss also disclosed that several business concerns, local and international companies, had indicated their interests to attend the three-day event, which will focus on trade and economic regeneration.
