SHI to build four $892m LNG carriers for Bonny Gas Transport
Samsung Heavy Industries, a South Korea ship building company, has entered into a shipbuilding contract with Nigeria’s Bonny Gas Transport for the construction of four Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers.
The contract is estimated to be worth over $892 million and the delivery of the vessels to Bonny Gas Transport, the shipping unit of Nigeria LNG, is scheduled to commence in 2015.
Samsung Heavy Industries, established in 1974, is one of the largest shipbuilders in the world and one of the “Big Three” shipbuilders of South Korea. In 2011, SHI became the first Korean shipbuilder to develop a cargo hold for LNG Carriers, a key LNG carrier facility
