SIFAX haulage trucks get approval of NPA safety team

As part of its effort to rid Nigerian seaport of rickety trucks that causes hazard to port operations, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has carried out a registration and evaluation exercise on all the trucks owned by SIFAX Haulage & Logistics Limited, a subsidiary of SIFAX Group.

The exercise, which was carried out by an 11-man team led by Adeola David, principal manager, Safety, Western Ports, visited the Ijora office of the company with the aim of ascertaining the road worthiness of the trucks and the team gave them a clean bill of health.

David, who noted that using sub-standard trucks in the industry has resulted in various avoidable accidents, stated further that he is glad at the high standards of the trucks deployed by SIFAX Haulage.

“I am really impressed with what we have seen here today, I must commend SIFAX Haulage for its strict adherence to safety standards. This exercise has been fruitful so far, and as a regulator, we are happy that an operator has deemed it fit to do the right thing, not only to maintain but have all the necessary gadgets for their operation,” he said.

Saheed Lasisi, general manager, SIFAX Haulage and Logistics Limited, said the positive outcome was as a result of professionalism, dedicated work force and a massive investment made by the Group.

“There has been massive investment in the business by our holding company in the last few years. In 2015 alone, we acquired 25 brand new trucks because of our business philosophy, which hinges on servicing the clients with the best equipment and tools. We are also concerned about growing the industry and we are at the final stage of acquiring another 25 new trucks,” he disclosed.
