Inoyo, ExxonMobil Executive Director, becomes CIPM President
Udom Inoyo, Executive Director, Human Resources at ExxonMobil, has emerged as the new president of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).
In his acceptance speech during his investiture ceremony as the 18th president of the institute in Lagos, Inoyo, called for increased collaboration between the private sector and government to leap-frog human capacity development in Nigeria.
He observed that Nigeria’s huge population was its biggest asset and to fully harness the human potential, there is urgent need for government and the organized private sector to strengthen partnerships with a view to better manage the abundant human resources for improved productivity and profitability. “When human resources are well managed, bottom-line will be impacted”, he added.
The new President therefore called for collaborative efforts among governments and other stakeholders such as CIPM for effective human capital utilization.
Inoyo said; “There is need for more engagement between government and professional organizations such as CIPM towards developing human talent. The CIPM was established to regulate the practice of human resource management in Nigeria and to promote excellence in the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills by professionals thereby enhancing sustainable national development.
He said in line with its mission, the CIPM under his leadership will in partnership with government Ministries, Parastatals and Agencies (MDAs) provide advisory support to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to help them build and manage capacity.
Mr. Inoyo, who is Executive Director, Human Resources at ExxonMobil pledged to work with the Akwa Ibom State government and other partners and stakeholders to enhance human capacity development across Nigeria.
In his remarks, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel who was chairman of the occasion said; “Human resource is the most important resource any nation can have and which if well utilized could enhance productivity. I charge the CIPM to sustain its capacity development initiatives as this would bring about the much needed change in our country”. The Governor commended the high professional standards that the CIPM represents and challenged it to continue in that direction.
