Lekoil to complete Ogo-1 sidetrack well in September

Lekoil Limited, an oil and gas company with a focus on Nigeria and West Africa, has said that drilling of the Ogo-1 sidetrack well is still ongoing with completion now expected this month.

Well testing, as appropriate, will occur thereafter, the company said.

In its June 26 announcement, Lekoil had said that the high impact Ogo-1 well located on the Oil Prospecting Licence (OPL) 310 offshore Nigeria had discovered a significant light oil accumulation, based on the results of drilling and wireline

Following the completion of drilling and testing operations at Ogo-1, the company had planned to drill a side-track well, Ogo-1 ST, which will test a stratigraphic pinch-out trap on the flanks of the basement high – a new potential play in the area. The Ogo-1 well is being drilled by Afren, as technical partner, under a farmout to Lekoil of OPL310.
