Siemens positioning for better days ahead

Siemens Nigeria Limited is positioning to take full advantage of situation when the fortunes of Nigeria turns around after the recession with the launch of “Ingenuity for Life,” aimed at ensuring the development of local partners that can add value to the economy.

Apart from this, the global energy provider is also partnering the Lagos State government in critical area of power infrastructure so as to help achieve its goal of “Light up Lagos”, a project being promoted by the government to ensure that all the nooks and crannies  are not only electrified but also have stable power supply.

The company’s innovation is intended to be achieved through fixing and building things, teaching, advising, transferring technology, sharing technology, and technological best practices.

The company said its commitment to the country remains unwavering despite the challenges she is facing as “Nigeria Siemens” is here for long time; “when things are turned  around, we want to be here fixing things, building things, teaching, advising, transferring technology, sharing technology, technological  best practices”.

According to Onyeche Tifase, managing  director and chief executive of  Siemens Nigeria Limited, the new  ground statement  “ingenuity for life”  has so aptly  described and expressed what drives the company, “what we do, what we are into , what we create and the added value we create for our customers, employees, partners and  the society at large.

Ingenuity, she said, is at the heart of everything Siemens does. So the word ingenuity for the company implies innovative engineering, ingenious and unity, unity with its customers, partners, shareholders and stakeholders to deliver excellence solution and leave positive impact on society at large.

“We want to be here developing local partners so that they can add value as Nigerian companies”, she said.

Siemens, she said, is not just a supplier of manufactured products, but a  partner and adviser to the government and to the private industries and educational institutions because the challenge we are facing today are core issues that are based on years and decades of neglect, they are consequences of not doing the right things we should have done before.

Siemens is today investing beyond what it would have done in the past years which means what we are facing today as a country has made others to become more ingenious, creative, innovative, risk taking, risk taking but with a clear aim in mind and result driven approach.

Ingenuity  for life relates  to “our goal in the society and Siemens ability to make real what matters through the creation and adoptions of  high end technologies that address issues across how  water, healthcare ,education, transport, manufacturing, basic infrastructure and other things. Ingenuity for life in summary is unrelenting drive and promise to create access for customers and employees and society and is premised on the Siemens  values of innovation, excellence and responsibilities”.

Lagos state government through the Oladeji Williams, Special Assistant to the Governor on Energy who represented the state commissioner  for Energy while acknowledging the launching of the new Siemens brand claim – “Ingenuity for Life” said: “We are also very eager to leverage  Siemens vast knowledge and experience and closing the energy sector gap particular with regards to the Lagos State Energy Development policy also referred to as “Light Up Lagos’.

• Street lighting – improving illumination, night time economic activities and security across the state.

He said, clearly, these components afford huge partnership opportunities with global energy solutions providers such as Siemens with the state government, in achieving its Energy Development objectives. “We have the utmost confidence that just like the new brand claim “Ingenuity for Life” that you will bring innovation to bear in creating value for Lagos”.

However, with the claims of investment, the  company said it has made one of the stakeholders in the power sector,  Charles Akhigbe,  managing director and chief executive officer of  Atlantique Marine and Engineering Service Limited, has  advised the company that it should do more than  just providing services  in the  country  but to also set up companies that manufacture  some of the equipment that  it is supplying  other companies in the country.

“Siemens should do more than just providing services but engage in real manufacturing of equipment which would ensure that more Nigerians are gainfully employed”, he stressed.
