Deepdrill partners US firm on non-ceramic technology for Nigeria power sector

Coming at a time the Nigerian power sector is undergoing the much-needed reform, Deepdrill Global Services in partnership with Maclean Power Systems (MPS) is introducing into the Nigerian electrical market power solutions for power generation, transmission and distribution lines.

The company said the technology would support total eradication of incessant power outages currently experienced by Nigerians.

“Maclean Power Systems products have been used to service utilities of some of the world’s most respected utilities in over a 100 countries where the solutions have been deployed for over 40 years,” the company said.

Francis Isibor, chief executive officer of Deepdrill Global Services, at a press conference held last week, said: “Our mission is to provide support for uninterrupted power supply for all Nigerians. One of the many strategies employed by the management of the company to ensure that these solutions are made available for industry use is that we would be exhibiting at the coming 4th Nigeria International Power Expo & Conferences (NIPEXPO), taking place at the International Conference center, Abuja from October 17th to 19th.”

The CEO invited the federal government, the ministry of power, regulators, operators, stakeholders and the general public to visit the company’s stand for free demonstrations on how they intend to carryout their mission in the country.

According to the company, MPS range of products being deployed for Nigeria will ensure total uninterrupted power supply with the advantages that their insulators are designed to withstand full power arc across the insulator up to about 20 times the fault energy found in lines; the sheds have an aerodynamic shape, preventing pollution particles from collecting on the insulator, hence the insulators prevents pollution flashover mechanism from forming.

Also, since they are composite silicone technology, they can endure sugar cane/reed fire burn with no effect on them; for the duration of the line with silicone, the insulation is maintenance free; and no pin corrosion, therefore no line drops; among other advantages, the company said.
