Discos commit to customer satisfaction, vow to redouble metering effort

Power Distribution Companies (DisCos) in Nigeria have reiterated their commitment to strengthening their Customer Complaints Units (CCUs) so as to better inform the public of happenings in the sector. To this end, each DisCo has confirmed that it has announced phone numbers through which customers can reach their offices.
This was among the developments that were announced at the 5th meeting of the Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fshola, with operators of the power sector held at Shiroro Hydroelectric plant, yesterday.
As part of efforts to eliminate estimated billing of consumers, the DisCos agreed to redouble their metering roll out plans in a progressive and sustainable manner by raising additional funding for that purpose. To this end, Distribution Companies are to publicise details of their metering progress at regular intervals.
Also at the meeting, a representative of Shell stated that repairs to the Forcados export line, which was destroyed by militants earlier in the year, is still scheduled to be completed on May 29. 
While the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) which was also represented at the meeting announced progress on 106 critical projects identified by distribution and generation companies as important to improving the transmission of power to Nigerian households.
