Ibom Power Company gets new MD
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has approved the appointment of Meyen Etukudo as acting managing director of Ibom Power Company.
Ibom Power Company is wholly owned by the state government and has since commenced power generation, which is being evacuated to the national grid for distribution to consumers.
The power plant, which was initiated by former Governor Victor Attah, who was in office between 1999 and 2007, generates more than 190mw of electricity out of the installed capacity of 586mw.
Etukudo was until his new appointment special assistant to the governor on power and has worked with the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria, occupying top management positions.
He takes over from Victor Udo who has been reassigned to the governor’s office as senior special assistant in charge of planning.
Etukudo will serve as acting managing director of Ibom Power Company, pending the appointment of the board and substantive managing director of the company.
The governor, in a statement signed by the secretary to the state government, Etekamba Umoren, said the appointments take immediate effect.
Also appointed are Ebong Okon Bassey, managing director of the state owned Akwa Savings and Loans Limited, with Patrick Ifon, Akan Emmanuel Udo, and Asuquo Odiong as members of the board, while Uduak Ewitat will serve as chairman of the new Akwa Savings and Loans Limited board.
