Schneider to help Nigeria build capacity in power sector
Schneider Electric has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) for manpower development in the power sector and employment generation in the country.
In line with the MoU which demonstrates a public-private sector partnership, Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management, will provide specialised training courses to NAPTIN trainers at the Schneider Electric’s facility who will then train other operators in the sector.
It is also expected to facilitate the delivery of practical trainings on deployment of consumables (cables and wires) and low/medium voltage power management systems at the NAPTIN facility in Abuja.
Marcel Hochet, country president, Schneider Electric, said that the agreement symbolises his company’s commitment with the Federal Government and stakeholders in the power sector on capacity building.
Speaking at the signing event in Abuja, Hochet noted that the MoU will significantly help government to deliver on its power sector pledges by raising skilled technical people in the sector.
