TCN restores power supply to major cities

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it has restored power supply to most parts of the federation after a nationwide power outage on Thursday caused by system over-voltage.

The incident caused many transmission equipment located at Ayede in Ibadan, Oyo State; Osogbo, Osun State; Ganmo in Ilorin, Kwara State as well as Shiroro in Niger State to explode thereby resulting in grid system collapse.

TCN management in a statement at the weekend signed by the company’s general manager, public affairs, Dave Ifabiyi, said its engineers worked assiduously to replace the damaged equipment which tripped off the 330kv transmission lines from Osogbo in Osun State to Ikeja-West in Lagos State; Benin in Edo State to Omotosho in Ondo State; Omotosho to Ikeja-West and Egbin to Ikeja-West in Lagos State as well as Okpai in Delta State to Onitsha in Anambra State.

TCN expressed regret that repair efforts to restore power supply took awhile due to the enormity of the incident, apologising to the Federal Government and Nigerians for the inconveniences caused by the power outage and reiterates its commitment to always and promptly rise to the occasion like this.
