12,000 lawyers to storm Lagos this weekend for the world’s largest gathering of lawyers!
Lagos is a beehive of activities as lawyers are gradually moving into the city for what is considered the largest gathering of lawyers in the world – the 2017 Annual General Conference (AGC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
In an exclusive chat with BusinessDay, the Secretary of the Technical Committee on Conference Planning (TCCP) and Head of the Conference Media Subcommittee, Abdulrasheed Muritala confirmed that the planning committee so far has a record of 12, 000 registered delegates for the conference, though the initial plan was to host 8,000 lawyers.
“As we speak, the conference is over-subscribed with 12,000 lawyers duly registered and ready for a fully packed week,” Muritala said.
According to him, this number could have easily gone up if the conference site, had not been programmed to shut down on given date. For this reason and more, the TCCP had announced that there would be no on-site registration at the conference venue.
There are strong indications that the huge interest in the conference was stirred by the TCCP offer of tablets packed with updated Law Reports to every conference participants for next to nothing. This was achieved in partnership with Airtel and several lawyers various pick-up centers for their tabs and other conference materials.
Other partners for the conference include, Zenith Bank, Access Bank, Guarantee Trust Bank, Arik Air and a host of others.
The event, which opens in Lagos on Friday August 18th, 2017 through to the 24th will be fully secured and only those with Access Cards will have access to the venue.
