Business Law Section partners CLA, Cyprus Bar Association for banking and finance training
In another development, the Section on Business Law is collaborating with the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA) and the Cyprus Bar Association for a workshop on Finance and Banking which takes place in Limassol, Cyprus from 19-20 May 2016.
The workshop, a continuing legal education programme organised by the Commonwealth Lawyers Association, is part of a series of small events aimed at bringing international expertise to commonwealth jurisdictions like Nigeria.
The Workshop is expected to cover a variety of topics such as the 4th EU Directive on money laundering, Virtual Currencies, Cybercrime, Commercial Dispute Resolution, Corporate Social Responsibility and a look at banking of the future in the Commonwealth and provide an opportunity to exchange information with professional from across the globe.
The CLA is a pan-Commonwealth organisation, which seeks to uphold the rule of law in the Commonwealth by encouraging exchange of ideas between legal professionals, academics and students, through projects and by driving improvements in legal education. It holds a number of short events throughout the year including the Commonwealth Law conference.
The SBL trainings and collaborations are part of the objectives of the current administration and Council of the SBL, to develop partnerships and capacity building programmes that will impact on its members who consist mainly of business and corporate commercial lawyers in Nigeria.
