Business lawyer gets $12,000 worth of referrals via LinkedIn
Mark Poniatowski, a business lawyer, recently beefed up his LinkedIn profile, and that led to the California attorney getting referrals worth $12,000.
Kern Lewis, a marketing specialist and Forbes contributor, writes in the publication’s Entrepreneurs column that the referrals came a few weeks after Poniatowski improved his LinkedIn page.
The founding partner of PoniatowskiLeding Parikh, the Castro Valley attorney spent an hour fixing his LinkedIn profile, according to the column, and three hours connecting with people he knew professionally. He set aside 30 minutes, once a week, toa build his online network and engage through “pings and content sharing.”
Poniatowski told Lewis that the site helped him keep track of position changes, research business decision-makers and set up introductions within his network.
“LinkedIn does nothing for you but set up the channel of communication,” Lewis wrote. “You have to reach through that channel to electrify your network. It isn’t rocket science, but it does take commitment. “
He also offered some tips, including setting up a social media management widget, like HootSuite, to update contents, using it weekly, and going to targeted groups for advice in areas outside your expertise.
