LawPavilion unbundles products, services for case research
With an objective to make its product and services more affordable to the Nigerian legal market, foremost electronic law reporting and research company, the LawPavilion, has announced the unbundling of products and services on its case management system.
Speaking with the press at a three-day training workshop in Lagos to introduce its revolutionary Case Manager software, LawPavilion’s head of training, Lekan Sogbein states that the latest LawPavilion 6.0 upgrade has unbundled products and services on this platform, so as to offer users the ability to purchase individual judgments on the go, without having to buy an entire collection of judgments.
“You can also buy judgments per year,” he says. A plan which he confirms will make the LawPavilion Case Manager Software more accessible and affordable to lawyers, judges, in-house solicitors and other users.
The software, which is said to streamline complex workflow for lawyers and judges, is also considered flexible by current users.
“Traditionally, you have to be in the office to access the above info or files. This is no longer the case, as you can now have access to them anywhere in the world, once they have been digitised and uploaded online,” he says.
“This is what the case management system is about and this is what we are introducing to the Ministry of Justice, as we believe organisations such as this are with loads of information to handle, and will require a software of this nature to manage their case files.
“There have been incidents of missed cases, missed judgments, incomplete matters and untraceable judgments, etc. The new case manager will help them track and follow cases, so as to be able to establish the true position of a case at any given time. This include ongoing cases, cases abandoned, incomplete cases, cases won, cases lost, applications filed on every matter, performance of staff, lawyers/Counsel, and such other metrics,” Sogbein explains.
The LawPavilion 6.0 also features an upgrade of the 360 Degrees software application, which allows instant viewing of case status. Before this introduction, the 360 Degree technology was on a separate tab, and each search had to be done on this tab to get a 360 degree search.
However, with this latest upgrade, every case search instantly reveals the status of the individual.
Talking participants made up of Staff and Directors of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice through the process, the facilitator explains, “In a single click, you will instantly establish whether a case has been upheld, upturned or partially upheld. All information about this case will turn up.”
The training, which took place at the Ministry of Justice in Alausa, Lagos, is one of the after-sales services offered by the company.
According to the head of training, the workshop aims to maximise the use of the software, while enhancing the efficiency and productivity of every Counsel by its use.
He explains that LawPavilion’s role does not end with the development of software as that can be achieved by every good IT company. “The process of implementation is a far more complex job and thus, we ensure that we pass this knowledge to users of our software and ensure they maximise the use of each product. We are always available to assist them with this process,” he states.
Confirming the efficiency of these apps and solutions, a participant from the ministry, Hameed Oyenuga, who spoke with BusinessDay, highlights the usefulness of the LawPavilion research and Case Management system, noting that the products, particularly the 360 Degrees, has greatly enhanced operations at the Lagos State Ministry of Justice.
“We at the litigation desk cannot do without this efficiency the LawPavilion Research Centre provides us. It is quite innovative and has greatly enhanced our jobs,” he says.
Oyenuga also expresses pleasure at the fact that the Lagos State Ministry of Justice was moving with the trends of time. “The innovation that has come with the IT era is working well for us. Now, we find legal authorities at our finger tips, we get results for our legal research faster and everything else is done with greater speed. It is indeed a welcome development for us,” he adds.
With an e-library of over 8,000 e-books of Law Reports (both Supreme Court and Court of Appeal from 1970 till date), a 43-years consolidated index and law-digest of over 50,000 issues covering all areas of law, selected Laws of the Federation, an industry leading search engine, a 48-hour law reporting system with automatic updates, among other features, LawPavilion also provides modules for law firms and corporate legal departments that allow them monitor the status of their cases with external solicitors.
