NBA mourns colleague and Minister

The Nigerian Bar Association  (NBA)

has expressed shock over the demise of its colleague and Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, James Enojo Ocholi. The late minister, who was a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was highly respected within the bar as an astute legal practitioner and a member of the National Executive Committee of the NBA.

Speaking on the mishap, the President of the NBA, Augustine Alegeh, SAN, expressed sadness over what he described as the tragic and unfortunate demise of one of the most brilliant legal professionals in Nigeria.

Extolling the virtues of the late Silk, he said, “Ocholi, SAN, was a devout Christian and a perfect gentleman, who dedicated his life in selfless service to the nation and humanity. He contributed immensely to the growth and development of the nation during his short stint as the Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Productivity. Little wonder he was appointed an Honourable Minister by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR in recognition of his modest achievements and sterling qualities.”

Commiserating with the family of the deceased, the bar leader conveyed the sympathy of the bar to the family, urging them to take solace in the fact that he lived an exemplary life here on earth and left behind a legacy of statesmanship and enduring love for humanity.

“The NBA commiserates with the entire Ocholi family, the Government and good people of Kogi State, the Federal Government as well as all Nigerians on the unfortunate demise of this illustrious son and a great achiever for whom hard work, integrity and philanthropy were articles of faith,” Alegeh said.

He noted that the entire Bar would mourn one of Nigeria’s greatest legal minds for a long time coming.”

Ocholi who hails from Dekina local Government area of Kogi state, died with his wife and son in a ghastly motor accident along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway on Sunday, March 6, 2016.
