Osinbajo, Fashola, Adeniyi to grace 2015 Lagos bar dinner

Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and the Minister for Power, Housing and Works, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN are amongst dignitaries expected at the 2015 annual Dinner of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch.

Both government functionaries who are also distinguished members of the profession will join colleagues at the annual celebration of the Premier Bar (NBA Lagos Branch), slated to hold on Thursday December 10, 2015 at the Shell Hall, MUSON Centre, Lagos.

The event is part of the year-end tradition of the Bar to foster unity amongst its members as well as honour those who have distinguished themselves in their fields of practice and continue to make valuable contributions to the legal profession in Nigeria. This year, the branch will honour lawyers recently conferred with the rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).

To speak on the theme for this year, “Undressing Themis” is the Chairman of the Editorial Board of THISDAY Newspapers, Segun Adeniyi, while the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Funmilayo Atilade will be the distinguished guest at this event.

Themis in Greek terms personifies divine order, law, natural law and custom.

Speaking on the line-up of the day, the 2015 Chairperson of the Bar Dinner Committee, Adedapo Tunde-Olowu stated that as is the tradition with the premier bar, the branch would also hold a raffle draw, where a long list of prizes would be won. 

“The star prize for this year is a return ticket to a destination in Europe, Other prizes include television sets, Laptops, IPads, among others,” he said.

The Lagos branch also known as the ‘Premier Branch’ is the first and largest branch of the Nigerian Bar Association with a membership base of over four thousand lawyers. It is home to some of Nigeria’s most influential Lawyers and Law firms.
