Otu Oka-Iwu honours 2 supreme court justices, ICC judge, 13 others
Otu Oka-Iwu Lagos, the umbrella body of lawyers of Igbo extraction in Lagos, will on Friday, February 28, 2014 honour two Supreme Court Justices and 13 other jurists who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers.
The honorees will be celebrated at the Annual Dinner & Awards ceremony of the association holding at the City Hall, Lagos.
Among those to be honoured are Hon. Justice Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta, (JSC, CFR) and Hon. Justice Mary Ukaego Peter-Odili (JSC, CFR), both Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and H. E. Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji, a Judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague.
Aside from Anambra State Governor Peter Obi CON who is being honoured as the outgoing Chairman of the South East Governors Forum and for his immense contributions to the development of the election and governance jurisprudence, the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal (Lagos Division), Hon. Justice Amina Adamu Augie, Hon. Justice Chinwe Iyizoba and Hon. Justice Samuel Oseji, all of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division and Hon Justice Kenneth Amadi of the National Industrial Court, Lagos are also billed to be honoured.
A statement by Zik C. Obi II and Emeka Nwadioke, President and Publicity Secretary respectively of the association, listed other, honorees to include Mr. Louis Nnamdi Mbanefo (SAN), President, Nigerian Maritime Law Association; Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN, OON), Member, National Judicial Council and Life Bencher; Mr. Etigwe Uwa (SAN); Elder Paul Ananaba (SAN); Chief Anayo Goddy Uwazurike, President, Aka Ikenga Association; Mr. Monday Ubani, Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja Branch; Mr. Alex Muoka, Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch, and Mr. V. Uche Obi, Chairman, Capital Market Solicitors Association.
While Senator Onyeabo Obi, a former President of the 43-year-old association, will be the Chairman of the high-profile ceremony, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde R. Fashola (SAN) will be the Special Guest of Honour. The Guest Speaker and Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi will deliver a dinner speech on the topic
“Coastal Shipping & the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund.”
