SBL breakout to feature two robust sessions on Human Capital, talent industry ahead of AGC
Ahead of the Annual General Conference (AGC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the specialist and training section of the association, known as the Section on Business Law is scheduled to have two very robust sessions to hold at the forthcoming conference.
The first session, which opens at 2:00pm on Wednesday, August 26, at the ‘Big Hall’ of the International Conference Centre (ICC), venue of the AGC, will discuss “Human Capital Development as an Imperative for National Growth,” while the second is a Showcase session tagged, ‘The Nollywood session’ with focus on the entertainment industry.
Listed to speak at the first session, is Dr. Juliet Chukkas-Onaeko, MFR, director-general, Industrial Training Fund, while on the panel of discussants are – Foluso Phillips, executive chairman, Phillips Consulting Limited, Ken Igbokwe, chairman, Execution Edge Limited, former country partner of PriceWaterhouseCoopers PWC); Prof. Ngozi Osarenren, Department of Education, UNILAG, and former Commissioner of Education, Edo Stat, and Dr. Bankole Sodipo.
The second breakout session is themed, “Providing Legal Support For The Talent-Based Industry: Special Focus On Movies, Music, Comedy And Sports”. Among the speakers for this session are, Richard Mofe Damijo (Veteran Actor and Producer), Yahaya Maikori, Partner, Law Allianz, Director, Chocolate City Group, Rex Nwakodo, Partner Sheridans London, and Amaju Pinnick.
The panel of discussants will include, Mo Abudu, Founder/CEO Ebony Life TV, Kunle Afolayan, Ace movie producer and actor, Afam Ezekude, DG, Nigerian Copyright Commission), Ali Baba, Ace comedian, Yewande Sadiku, MD, StanbicIBTC Capital Limited, Bolanle Austen-Peters, Founder, Terra Culture, amongst others.
The break out session is part of the SBL programme for the NBA 2015 Annual General Conference and the topics for this year are in line with the primary objectives of the SBL. It includes the exchange of views and information among the Section and other like-minded bodies as to the laws, practices and procedures affecting the Section, locally and internationally; the promotion and delivery of qualitative business services to the public; guiding, assisting and organising enlightenment programmes for the Section’s Committees; and drafting and enactment of legislations pertaining to commercial and business issues in Nigeria.
Also scheduled for the same day, right before the Breakout/Special Showcase Sessions, is the SBL’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the same day – Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the Executive Hall of the International Conference Centre, Abuja. Time is 9.00am prompt.
The AGC of the NBA opens in Abuja on August 21, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja and ends on the 28. The theme for the general conference is ‘LAWYERS AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT’.
