SBL hospitality roundtable looks at opportunities & threats in the industry

The Travel Tourism and Hospitality (TTH) Committee of the NBA Section on Business Law last week held a one-day Hospitality Roundtable with the theme: ‘OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY IN NIGERIA’.

The event, which took place at the Moorhouse Hotel, Ikoyi Lagos is part of the Section’s vision to build capacity for members, as well as create a platform for addressing emerging issues in the legal sector. This year’s event presented members and guests with insight into the hidden opportunities and benefits in the industry.

With an audience drawn from the subsectors of the industry, including lawyers, entrepreneurs, hotel operators and managers, fast food businesses, culinary skills and hospitality and tourism trainers, and tourism promoters; discussants and participants analysed the strengths, opportunities and threats in the industry; noting that the hospitality industry, in spite of its huge growth and potentials, has not been tapped maximally to contribute to Nigeria’s GDP.

The panel made of up of key actors in the industry and the business law community including, Managing Director/CEO, Moorgate Limited, Dr. Ikenna Nwosu, The Operations Manager at Epe Resort &Spa, Bruce Prins, the Chairperson of the Travel, Tourism & Hospital Committee, Okey Egbuchu, the Chairman of the NBA Section on Business Law, Asue Ighodalo and a representative of the Founder/CEO Culinary Academy, Olayemi popoola; who all gave great insight to the wealth and job creation opportunities for lawyers.

The TTH roundtable has been described as an eye-opener for lawyers interested in the hospitality industry as well as persons looking to invest in the industry.
