Berger Paints introduces tamper proof lid to check adulteration

Berger Paints Nigeria plc, the leading paints and allied products manufacturer in Nigeria, has introduced the tamper proof lid technology to check adulteration that has become a bane in the industry.

The firm has also mopped up all old buckets in the market, while upgrading its human resource infrastructure. A tamper proof lid or covering makes it difficult for a product to be tampered with or makes unauthorised tampering easily identified.

Tor Nygard, managing director, Berger Paints, who was represented by Yomi Odunaiya, head of institutional sales projects, disclosed this during the opening of a new sales outlet at Mushin, Lagos State.

According to Nygard, the firm had begun ramping up its distribution base to bring products closer to its customers and reduce the risk of purchasing adulterated products by customers. He said the new outlet would serve as a channel for distributing the company’s products such as Luxol, Clinstay (premium brands), Super Star (economy brand) and Robbialac (value brand), adding that the firm had recognised the need to open up more channels to enhance accessibility and product availability to customers in Lagos State, and those from other countries who come into Mushin to buy building materials.

He advised potential customers against inferior products, which would negatively affect the wall.

“Today, we celebrate the birth of another business outlet in Mushin to cater for the immediate needs of Mushin Local Government Area and its immediate neighbours such as Shomolu, Oshodi-Apapa, Surulere, Ikeja and Kosofe local government areas and by extension, all other parts of our centre of excellence,” he said.

Berger Paints is known for high quality products as the company has been playing a leading role in the development of Nigeria’s construction industry by supplying high value paints and coating brands for decorative and industrial uses, the managing director said.

“Of particular importance to us is the implementation of the local content policy in the oil and gas and the prospects it holds for us, given the strategic alliances and partnership we have formed with some of the largest paint manufacturers in the world,” he said.

Mohammed Turaki, head of channel sales, said the new outlet would enhance the prospects in Amu market, Mushin, which had been adjudged largest building materials market in West Africa, adding that the firm would continue to make high quality products available to customers.

The paint industry is clogged by adulteration, high production costs, distribution challenges and over dependence on imported products, among others.
