Electricity supply to industries reduces to 4 hours

Manufacturers had an average of four-hour electricity supply each day in 2014. Also, they had an average of six power outages per day, latest data from the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) have shown.

“One of the biggest challenges aside from funding to manufacturers is the issue of electricity supply,” says MAN, in its January to June 2014 Economic Review, saying “this has been a major issue that requires collective approach and resolution in order to save the economy.”

The data show Edo/Delta industrial zone had eight outages per day and an average electricity supply of six hours within the year.

Similarly, Imo/Abia zone had eight outages per day and five hours of supply. Oyo/Ondo/Osun/Ekiti had six outages per day and four hours of supply each day in 2014.

Furthermore, Kano/Sharada/Challawa area was provided with four-hour electricity but had six outages per day. Ogun had six outages and five-hour supply each day, while Ikeja (Lagos) was supplied with four-hour electricity but suffered seven outages.

Apapa (Lagos) zone had five outages and three hours of electricity supply, whereas Anambra/Enugu had seven outages and five-hour supply on the average. Also, Kano Bompai had seven outages and four hours of supply, just as Kaduna was supplied with four hours of electricity but not without five power outages each day.
