Fidson restates commitment to CSR

Nigerian drug maker Fidson Healthcare Plc has restated its commitment to expanding its corporate social responsibility.

Fidson says it adheres to international best practices on its CSR spend and programmes.

The company said this while announcing a new venue for the 7th edition of its flagship children academic reward programme known as Astymin Brilliance Reward.

According to the Nigerian pharmaceutical company, this year’s edition of ABR will take place at the Ndubuisi Kanu Park, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, on July 29.

About 200 best-performing kids from different public and private primary schools from across the south-west and South-eastern region will be rewarded for their academic excellence, thereby enhancing their mental and academic performances. The kids will be recognised and rewarded with certificates of excellence and valuable prizes.

Friday Enaholo, marketing manager, Fidson Healthcare Plc, said the programme is targeted at putting a lot of premium on hard work.

“Ndubuisi Kanu Park is a bigger venue that offers a significant distinction from the norm, with more child-friendly ambience that will give the children a unique experience. The children will have more room for fun and there will be more games to play with,” Enaholo said.

“We believe it is better to catch them young and put them on the right path to success. Therefore, Astymin will continue to take the giant stride in rewarding brilliant primary school kids in a way that motivates them to stay focused on their studies, believing that merit and hard work can still be rewarded”, he said.

Explaining the rationale for the event, Enaholo noted that Astymin Brilliance Reward is the brand’s biggest and most prestigious event. He further explained that Astymin brand supports various school programs in primary schools. For instance, every month, there is an Astymin Genius of the Month essay competition. Students in primary schools in Lagos state write an essay on a topic agreed upon by their teachers. The teachers also assess them and choose the best of the entries. Astymin then rewards the child with prizes, which include valuable educational materials.

Yetunde Adesola, Astymin school programme coordinator, said the programme is happening in all the south-west states as well as Anambra and Delta, adding that it is meant for pupils in both public and private schools.
